That there them these those unfortunates
Aim to grease we those unfortunates
Thank you yes please those unfortunates
We are
Knock kneed
Two speed
Take heed
We’ll say this only once
These there them that those unfortunates
Front foot straight bat those unfortunates
Stop go come back those unfortunates
We are
Man made
Sweat stained
Outstayed
Our warm welcome
There that these them those unfortunates
Crossed eyes count ten those unfortunates
Uncross them then those unfortunates
We are
Well read
Thick heads
The dregs
Of imitation
Them these that there those unfortunates
Play hard not fair those unfortunates
He who wins dares those unfortunates
We are
Sly grins
Odd pins
This din
And not much more

Raymond's Perfect World
02:07
|
|||
Raymond made just for himself
A tiny perfect world
But if things aren’t quite perfect
It’s no good for Raymond’s nerves
Raymond dresses smartly
He’s not happy when he’s not
His wardrobe’s full of pastel shirts
And matching pastel socks
All the while a thought keeps gnawing
It’s all a little overwhelming
(He’s ok though)
Inside Raymond’s little house
Clocks tick before they tock
But if he hears one tocking first
He has to make it stop
All the while a thought keeps gnawing
It’s all a little overwhelming
(He’s ok though)
Raymond has these routines
To help him get along
They help him to forget
That everything is wrong

A Short Haired Boy
02:43
|
|||
I was born a short haired boy
My mother’s pride and joy
And everywhere that mummy went
She’d take me and all, ‘my boy
Is such a perfect specimen
With mummy’s eyes and chins
And bless his little cottons
With daddy’s short haired pins’
They took me up the high street
All the grannies billed and cooed
And hobbled all together
To stroke my scritchy follicles
‘Oh couldn’t you just eat him up?’
They said and licked their lips
I gurgled out in terror
But did they take the hint?
No.
Mother was in tears
When my cowlick first appeared
The bristles became bushels
Til they brushed down past my ears
‘My little boy’s a monster’
She shivered in dad’s arms
He dragged me by the ankles…
To the barbers.
Now I look so neat and smart
A little short haired work of art
Now I look so smart and neat
From my short-haired head to my shoe-shod feet
We eat our crusts and leave the rest
Sup our milk from short haired breasts
To grow the short hairs on our chest…

I was lying in fields
Of grass and clover
You were sleeping next to me
I watched a while as birds flew
Over our heads
You took me driving in your car
Towards the sand dunes
A million shells washed on the beach
And under your feet
On the beach near Blakeney
And in the evenings when we watched
The fire dancing
All those unimportant things
Made my heart ache
On the beach near Blakeney
Like bricks and water on your skin
Do I need you? I do.
